Large Cache of Psychotropic Drugs Seized in Assam’s Dakshin Lenga, Accused on the Run


 

GUWAHATI: Assam Police recently seized a large quantity of suspected psychotropic substances during a search operation at Dakshin Lenga under Baihata Chariali Police Station limits, officials said.

Acting on credible intelligence, a police team led by the Officer-in-Charge of Baihata Chariali Police Station intercepted a four-wheeler and recovered 598 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup and 12,600 Nitrazepam tablets concealed inside the vehicle. The vehicle used for transportation has also been seized.

Officials stated that the search was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, adhering to due legal procedures.

However, the accused persons managed to flee the spot before they could be apprehended. Police have launched efforts to trace and arrest those involved in the case.

Further investigation is underway.
