GUWAHATI: A large python was spotted near a residential house at Tiwanagar, near Narakasur Pahar in Jatia, on the night of September 17, causing concern among local residents.

According to locals, the python was sighted at around 10 PM near the residence of Vishnu Joshi.
Following the information, Forest Department personnel reached the area and launched a search to trace and capture the python, locals said. However, the officials were unable to capture the snake during the night, and it remained at large.
The exact size of the python could not be confirmed as the Forest Department officials were unable to capture it. However, people present at the spot estimated that the snake was around 7–8 feet long.
Residents have urged the Forest Department to continue the search and safely rescue the python before it moves further into the residential area.
Residents have also been advised not to approach or attempt to catch the snake themselves and to inform the authorities immediately if it is spotted again.
