GUWAHATI: Proceedings in both Houses of Parliament were repeatedly disrupted on the second day of the Monsoon Session on Tuesday, July 21, as Opposition parties intensified protests over the alleged NEET examination paper leak and the police crackdown on student protesters in New Delhi.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned shortly after proceedings began, with Speaker Om Birla stating that members would be allowed to raise issues only after the completion of Question Hour.
Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha witnessed noisy scenes as soon as Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue of the police action against students protesting the alleged medical entrance examination paper leak. Kharge alleged that police had resorted to a lathi charge and used tear gas to disperse protesters who had taken to the streets on Monday.
His remarks triggered slogan-shouting from treasury bench members, prompting counter-protests by Opposition MPs. Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan adjourned the House first till noon and later till 2 pm as the disruptions continued.
Earlier in the day, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, along with several Opposition MPs, met Speaker Om Birla and urged him to permit a discussion on what they described as the "brutality unleashed" on protesting students and the government's alleged lack of accountability over the examination crisis.
Outside Parliament, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs, including Sanjay Singh, staged a protest against the police action, raising slogans and demanding justice for the students.
The Monsoon Session, scheduled to have 19 sittings over 25 days, has been marked by persistent disruptions since its opening day. Opposition parties have been demanding detailed discussions on several issues, including alleged irregularities in competitive examinations.
On the first day of the session, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned six times as Opposition members demanded action against those responsible for the alleged NEET examination paper leak. The Lok Sabha also witnessed repeated adjournments amid protests over multiple issues before proceedings were called off for the day.
