GUWAHATI: Continuing its drive against the illegal drug trade, the Assam Police recently seized 24 kg of suspected opium worth approximately ₹1.6 crore in Kamrup district and apprehended one person in connection with the case.

Sharing the development on X, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the seizure was made by the Kamrup Police as part of the state's ongoing anti-narcotics campaign.
"Continuing our crackdown on the drug network, @KamrupPolice recovered 24 kg of suspected opium worth around ₹1.6 crore. One person has been apprehended and further investigation is underway. Good work @assampolice," the Chief Minister posted.
Further investigation is reportedly underway.
The latest operation is part of Assam Police's sustained crackdown on drug trafficking across the state, with multiple seizures and arrests reported in recent months.
