GUWAHATI: Assam boxer Lovlina Borgohain settled for the silver medal in the women’s 75kg category at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games after losing 1-4 to Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree in the final.

Lovlina’s silver was part of an impressive showing by Indian boxers at the Games. Arundhati Choudhary won gold in the women’s 70kg category, while Ankush Panghal and Sachin Siwach claimed gold in the men’s 80kg and 60kg events respectively. Priya Ghanghas and Sakshi Chaudhary also won gold in the women’s 60kg and 51kg categories, while Jaismine Lamboria and Preeti Pawar added two more gold medals in the women’s 57kg and 54kg events.
India also secured silver medals through Narender Berwal in the men’s 90+kg category and Jadumani Singh in the men’s 55kg event. With Lovlina’s silver, India finished its boxing campaign with a record seven gold and three silver medals.
The country also recorded notable performances outside boxing. Gulveer Singh won bronze in the men’s 5,000m, adding to the silver he had earlier won in the 10,000m. He became the first Indian athlete to win two medals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Unnati Sharma claimed bronze in the women’s 63kg judo event, while Tejaswin Shankar won bronze in the men’s decathlon, giving India its first-ever Commonwealth Games medal in the event.
In para athletics, Soman Rana won gold and Shubham Juyal silver in the men’s F57 shot put event. Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran also secured silver and bronze respectively in the men’s triple jump.
At the end of the penultimate day of competition, India stood fourth in the medal table with 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze medals, taking its total to 39.
