GUWAHATI: A man was found dead under unknown circumstances at a residence in Guwahati’s Downtown area, police confirmed on Tuesday, June 2.

The deceased has been identified as Madhav Das, a resident of Kahilipara, who was reportedly employed as a supervisor in contractual works.
According to preliminary information, Das was discovered lying inside a house located at Pragati Path in Mathura Nagar with visible injury marks on his leg. Foam was also reportedly seen coming out of his mouth, raising suspicion over the nature of his death.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, personnel from Dispur Police Station arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. The body was later sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination.
While the exact cause of death is yet to be determined, both police officials and family members of the deceased suspect foul play and believe the incident could be a case of murder.
Further investigation is underway.
