Speaking to GPlus, the officer in-charge of Satgaon Police Station said, "The blaze originated at a rented house belonging to Prabin Rongpi, where six tenant families were residing." She added that the fire spread rapidly through the building, engulfing multiple rooms and triggering panic among residents in the locality.

According to local residents, the fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. The situation escalated further after two LPG cylinders exploded inside the house, intensifying the flames and making firefighting efforts difficult.

Law enforcement authorities arrived at the spot and, along with local residents, attempted to control the inferno using water before fire services reached the area.

Two fire tenders from the Fire and Emergency Services department arrived nearly an hour later and eventually managed to bring the fire under control.

Although no casualties or injuries have been reported, the incident resulted in the destruction of property worth several lakh rupees, officials said.

Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
