GUWAHATI: Lakkhipriya Road in Satgaon has been in a severely dilapidated condition for a long time, significantly affecting daily movement and restricting access for emergency and essential services in the area.

The stretch is marked by extensive mud accumulation and persistent waterlogging, making it difficult for ambulances, fire service vehicles and commuters to navigate the road. Locals said the condition could lead to delays in responding to medical emergencies, fire incidents and other urgent situations.

Residents also reported that delivery vehicles are unable to enter the locality, while several households are unable to take out their own vehicles due to the damaged road surface, effectively limiting mobility within the area. Stagnant water along the stretch has further created unhygienic conditions, impacting pedestrians, including senior citizens and school students.

Speaking to GPlus, the councillor of Ward No. 58 said “The road construction work has been underway for the past few days.”

However, residents claimed that while a footpath was constructed last year, the main carriageway has not been repaired. They added that the road was dug up in February this year for development work using machinery, after which the work remained incomplete.
