GUWAHATI: A tragic incident was reported from Assam’s Nagaon district on Tuesday morning, May 19, after a Class 9 student lost her life after falling into the Kolong River.

The deceased has been identified as Khushi Ghosh, a student of Nagaon Government Girls’ High School.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Nagaon Police Station said, "The incident took place near the ASTC area during the morning hours at around 9 AM. Khushi fell from a bridge over the Kolong River, triggering panic among local residents."
People nearby rushed to rescue her and immediately took her to a hospital for treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared her brought dead.
The exact circumstances leading to the incident are still unclear. Police have not yet confirmed whether the case was accidental or intentional.
Further investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause of the incident.
