The approval, accorded on September 10, 2026, follows the completion of the prescribed assessment process and approval by the CA|TS International Executive Committee. The recognition marks an important milestone for wildlife conservation in Assam.
With Nameri receiving CA|TS Approved status, all four tiger reserves in Assam- Kaziranga, Manas, Orang and Nameri- now hold the status.
CA|TS provides a globally recognised framework for assessing the effectiveness of tiger conservation and protected area management. The assessment covers key areas including protection, habitat management, monitoring, governance, community engagement and overall management effectiveness.
The approval of Nameri reflects efforts to strengthen protection, scientific monitoring, habitat management and conservation planning across the reserve. It also recognises the contribution of officers, frontline staff and other stakeholders involved in managing and conserving the tiger reserve.
Nameri Tiger Reserve forms an important tiger conservation landscape on the north bank of the Brahmaputra. It also maintains ecological connectivity with adjoining forest areas, the hill forests of Arunachal Pradesh and the wider Brahmaputra Valley landscape.
