The activity-based module aims to provide students with a foundational understanding of computational thinking and AI, including their real-world applications, limitations and responsible use. It is designed for learners without any prior knowledge of artificial intelligence or specific subject requirements.

According to NCERT, the module introduces Computational Thinking (CT) as a systematic approach to problem-solving and helps students understand how AI works, where it is used and what its possibilities and limitations are.

Prepared under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, the module has been developed in consultation with IIT Madras and IIT Jodhpur.

The learning material focuses on developing essential skills such as critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving. It also introduces students to the safe and responsible use of AI, covering topics such as data privacy, misinformation, fairness and digital security.

A key focus of the module is helping students critically evaluate AI-generated information rather than accepting it without verification. It also highlights the importance of human judgment, creativity and ethical responsibility in technology-enabled learning.

The module follows an experiential, activity-based approach involving discussions, practical exercises, experimentation and reflection. According to NCERT, the activities can be conducted with or without digital devices, allowing students from different school settings to participate.

The initiative aligns with the objectives of NEP 2020, which emphasises technological awareness and the development of essential 21st-century skills among school students.
