GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has launched a Spot Fine App to record and manage penalties for civic violations, including littering, improper waste disposal, illegal dumping, open defecation and damage to public infrastructure.

The app allows fines to be collected through both cash and online payments.
It was launched on Tuesday, October 13 by GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarania at a meeting attended by Deputy Mayor Smita Roy, members of the Mayor-in-Council, GMC Commissioner Chinmoy Prakash Phookan, Additional Commissioner Pranab Dutta Goswami and other officials.
According to the Mayor, the initiative is intended to encourage responsible civic behaviour rather than focus solely on revenue collection.
The GMC has also provided a dedicated vehicle to each of its divisions to support field-level monitoring and enforcement of civic regulations.
