One Dead, 13 Injured After Passenger Bus Overturns in Assam’s Lakhimpur


 

GUWAHATI: A tragic road accident in Assam’s Lakhimpur district claimed the life of one person and left 13 others injured after a passenger bus travelling from Guwahati to Majuli overturned on Friday, May 22.

Speaking to GPlus, a police official said the accident took place near Singra Bridge at Dolahat Tini Ali in Naoboicha when the bus reportedly lost control, rammed into a roadside tree, and overturned on the highway.

The deceased has been identified as Dipjyoti Bora (30), a resident of Majuli. He reportedly died on the spot due to the impact of the crash.

The injured passengers were immediately rescued and shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment. While a few passengers sustained serious injuries, all the injured are currently undergoing medical treatment and are reported to be stable.

Police personnel, along with local residents, carried out rescue operations soon after the incident and helped evacuate passengers.

An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
