The Argentina captain posted images of the shirt on Instagram, showing his name and famous No. 10 in gold. The jersey also features a distinctive design on the back. Sharing the pictures, Messi wrote, “Último partido… Una camiseta para toda la vida. One last match… A jersey for a lifetime.”
Messi is expected to make his farewell appearance for Argentina on October 6 when the world champions face Benin at River Plate's stadium. Rodrigo De Paul and Giovani Lo Celso are also expected to feature in the fixture.
The fixtures form part of a series of three home friendlies scheduled between September 21 and October 6, according to the Argentine Football Association.
The upcoming farewell will mark the end of Messi's senior international career, which began with his Argentina debut in 2005. The 39-year-old has since become the country's most-capped player and all-time leading scorer.
Messi's international career includes three major titles. He helped Argentina win the 2021 Copa America, followed by their 2022 FIFA World Cup triumph in Qatar and another Copa America title in 2024.
The 2022 World Cup final remains one of the defining moments of his international career. Messi scored twice against France and also converted his penalty during the shoot-out as Argentina won 4-2 after the match ended 3-3 following extra time.
Messi has represented Argentina at six World Cups, from 2006 through 2026, and is also a record eight-time Ballon d'Or winner.
Following his international retirement, Messi is set to continue his club career with Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
