GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, July 25, spoke to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to review the flood situation in the state and assured all possible support from the Centre for relief, rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts.

Sharing the update on X, Sarma said the Prime Minister enquired about the prevailing flood situation in Assam and sought details on the extent of the devastation, the ongoing relief operations and the challenges being faced on the ground.
"I briefed him on the measures being undertaken by the State Government and our efforts to reach out to every affected family," the Chief Minister said.
According to Sarma, the Prime Minister expressed deep condolences over the loss of lives and property caused by the floods and assured the people of Assam that the disaster is being accorded the highest priority by the Union Government.
"The Government of India will extend every possible support to aid our relief, rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts," Sarma quoted the Prime Minister as saying.
The assurance comes as Assam continues to grapple with severe flooding that has claimed several lives, affected over seven lakh people and inundated hundreds of villages across multiple districts. Rescue and relief operations are underway in the flood-hit areas, with state agencies continuing evacuation and rehabilitation measures.
