Speaking to GPlus, an official from Manas National Park said the incident took place at around 2 PM during a regular jungle safari when the rhino suddenly emerged and approached an open safari vehicle carrying two tourists. Moments later, the animal aggressively rammed the jeep with its horn, leaving the visitors inside the vehicle visibly shaken.
Footage from the incident shows the rhino repeatedly pushing the vehicle and attempting to overturn it as terrified passengers scream in panic.
Amid the chaos, the safari driver managed to steer the vehicle away from the animal with careful manoeuvring, helping all passengers escape unharmed. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Wildlife experts note that such aggressive behaviour can occur if wild animals feel threatened or disturbed in their natural surroundings. Visitors to protected forest areas are generally advised to remain calm, avoid loud noises, and strictly follow safari guidelines during wildlife sightings.
Located in western Assam, Manas National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its rich biodiversity and conservation efforts. The park is home to several endangered species, including the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, and wild buffalo, making it one of the state’s most popular wildlife destinations.
