GUWAHATI: Indian boxer Sachin Siwach clinched the gold medal in men’s boxing in the 60kg category at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games after defeating Namibia’s Tryagain Morning Ndevelo 3-2 in a closely contested final. The 26-year-old from Bhiwani, Haryana, produced a late surge to overcome a challenging third round and secure the title with a narrow split decision.

Siwach was under pressure in the final round as Ndevelo effectively used counterattacks, while the Indian was warned several times by the referee. With the bout heading towards a tight finish, Siwach launched a decisive attack in the closing seconds and landed a powerful punch that forced a standing count against the Namibian boxer just before the final bell. The judges eventually gave Siwach the edge in the split decision.
The victory capped an unbeaten campaign for Siwach, who defeated Canada’s Keoma Al-Ahmadieh 4-1, England’s William Hewitt 4-1, Botswana’s Treasure Moremi 5-0 and Wales’ Owain Harris-Allan 5-0 on his way to the final. Entering the Games as the world No. 5 in his category, Siwach added the Commonwealth Games title to an impressive record that includes a Youth World Championship, Commonwealth Youth Games gold, South Asian Games gold and a World Boxing Cup Finals victory.
