Lovlina Borgohain Wins Asian Games Gold on her 29th Birthday


 

GUWAHATI: Lovlina Borgohain has added another major achievement to her boxing career, winning the gold medal in the women’s 75kg category at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.

She defeated China's Ziyi Bao by a 5-0 unanimous decision in the final match held on October 2, 2026. With this win, she became only the second Indian woman boxer after MC Mary Kom to claim an Asian Games gold medal.

Making the victory even more memorable, Lovlina secured the Asian Games title on her 29th birthday.

Lovlina’s victory also secured India’s 12th gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games, adding to the country’s impressive medal haul on Day 14.
