Save with difficulty! A person arrested with live bullets at the swearing-in ceremony of the Assam government

A man was arrested after security forces recovered several rounds of live ammunition during a routine check at the entrance to the Veterinary College grounds in Khanapara, where the new Assam government was sworn in on Tuesday.

Police said the man was taken into custody and taken to Vasishta police station for questioning after ammunition was found during screening at the entry point.

While confirming the arrest, a police official said that no firearm was recovered from the person and investigations are on to find out under what circumstances the live ammunition was carried in the security zone and whether the incident raised any security concerns.

The incident took place minutes before Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya along with his new cabinet administered the oath of office and secrecy to Himanta Biswa Sharma as Chief Minister.

Several Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Ports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Diplomats and industry leaders were present on the occasion.

After the arrest, security was beefed up at the entire venue as the administration closely monitored the situation. More details awaited.
