GUWAHATI: Sixteen taekwondo athletes from Assam have been selected to represent India at the 2026 World Taekwondo Championships, scheduled to be held in Chuncheon, South Korea, from September 16 to 20.

The selection marks one of the largest representations from Assam in the Indian contingent for the World Taekwondo Championships. The event is organised by World Taekwondo, the sport's international governing body.
The selected athletes are Saraswati Devi Kabrabam, Dezdimona Pathak, Nishita Borah, Shyamantika Baruah, Benla Kemprai, Pallabi Handique, Diya Patra, Disha Patra, Abhilasha Das, Debasish Das, Preety Khakhlary, Hrittika Alamyan, Rigby Sharma, Dheer Kashyap Talukdar, Mrigank K. Dutta, and Aranya Dutta.
According to the Taekwondo Martial Arts Sports Association of Assam (TMSAA), the selection reflects the growing presence of athletes from the state in national and international taekwondo competitions. The championship will bring together competitors from across the world to compete in various categories under the World Taekwondo banner.
The selected athletes are expected to undergo training and preparation ahead of the tournament in South Korea, where they will represent India on the international stage.
