GUWAHATI: To facilitate the movement of pilgrims attending the Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced several special train services between Kamakhya and different parts of North Bengal.

According to NFR, a special unreserved train (No. 05780) will run from New Jalpaiguri to Kamakhya on June 20 and June 27. The train will depart New Jalpaiguri at 8 PM and arrive at Kamakhya at 7:15 AM the next day.
The return service (Train No. 05779) will operate from Kamakhya to New Jalpaiguri on June 21 and June 28. It will leave Kamakhya at 8 AM and reach New Jalpaiguri at 8:15 PM.
In addition, NFR will run a daily special train between Alipurduar Junction and Kamakhya. Train No. 05444 will depart Alipurduar Junction at 9:50 AM and reach Kamakhya at 7 PM. The service will operate from June 20 to June 22 and again from June 24 to June 27.
The return train, No. 05445, will leave Kamakhya at 8 PM and arrive at Alipurduar Junction at 4:15 AM the next day. It will run daily during the same period.
A one-way unreserved special train (No. 05661) will also be operated from Kamakhya to Alipurduar Junction on June 19. The train will depart at 8 PM and reach Alipurduar Junction at 4:15 AM the following day.
All the special trains will halt at major stations including Rangiya, Nalbari, Barpeta Road, New Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Fakiragram Junction, Gossaigaon Hat and Kamakhyaguri, among others.
The Ambubachi Mela, one of the largest religious gatherings in the Northeast, will be held at the Kamakhya Temple from June 22 to June 26. Thousands of devotees from across the country are expected to visit Guwahati during the annual event.
