GUWAHATI: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men who posed as policemen at a park near Kalkaji Mandir in South Delhi on Monday evening, September 21, police said.

According to the complaint, the girl, a Delhi resident, had gone to Kalkaji Mandir with her 17-year-old male friend around 7 PM. After offering prayers, the two went to a park near the temple at around 7:30 PM.
The three accused, aged between 25 and 30 years, allegedly approached the girl and her friend and claimed to be policemen. The accused allegedly threatened the two before sexually assaulting the girl, police said.
According to police, one of the accused allegedly threatened the girl with a firearm and a knife and sexually assaulted her, following which the other two accused also allegedly assaulted her. The accused later threatened the girl and her friend, police said.
A PCR call regarding the incident was received around 8:45 PM, following which a police team reached the spot. The girl was taken for a medical examination, police said.
Police said one of the accused was arrested on Tuesday morning. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of law, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
When police intercepted the accused, he allegedly opened fire at the police team. Despite being asked to surrender, he fired three rounds at the officers, following which the police shot him in the right leg and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Asif, who works at Okhla Mandi.
Police teams have been deployed to identify and apprehend the remaining two accused. Further legal action is being taken based on the girl's statement, police said.
