The idol of Maa Durga is being brought from Kolkata, and pandal is designed by the local artisans, while the committee has allocated a budget of ₹27 lakh for this year’s celebrations.
With Durga Puja approaching, several committees across Guwahati are preparing pandals based on distinctive themes.
While the Latasil Durga Puja Committee is recreating the Kedarnath Temple, the Geetanagar Durga Puja Committee is drawing inspiration from the Nepal flash floods. Meanwhile, the Pandu Durga Puja Committee is showcasing the Dwadash Jyotirlinga theme.
These varied concepts are expected to add to the festive atmosphere across the city, offering visitors a mix of religious architecture, cultural expression and socially relevant themes during the celebrations.
The temple-themed pandal is being organised by the Shantipur Sluice Gate Sarbajanin Durga Puja Samithi.
