GUWAHATI: Dr Madhumita Barooah took oath as Vice Chancellor of Assam Women’s University at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday, October 14. The oath of office was administered by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya.

The ceremony took place in the conference hall of Lok Bhavan. Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S. S. Meenakshi Sundaram sought the Governor’s permission to commence the proceedings.
Those present at the ceremony included Assam Chief Secretary Dr Ravi Kota, Commissioner and Secretary of the Higher Education Department Narayan Konwar, and Gauhati University Vice Chancellor Prof Nani Gopal Mahanta.
Vice chancellors of Bhattadev University, Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Assam Veterinary and Fishery University, and Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University also attended the ceremony.
Director of Higher Education Pomi Baruah and other senior state government officials were present at the event.
