GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday, September 13, inaugurated a railway overbridge and an Integrated District Commissioner’s Office at Cinnamara in Jorhat.

The 545-metre, two-lane railway overbridge, constructed at a cost of ₹65.20 crore, is expected to ease traffic congestion at one of Jorhat’s major railway crossing bottlenecks. The bridge will improve connectivity and facilitate smoother movement towards Mariani, Titabor and Nagaland.
Sharing pictures of the inauguration on X, Sarma said the overbridge would “clear this choke point in the historic town” and was part of the state government’s efforts to make railway crossings traffic-free across Assam.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Integrated District Commissioner’s Office at Cinnamara, built at a cost of ₹49.62 crore. The administrative complex has been designed to accommodate multiple government departments and services under one roof, with the aim of making public services more efficient and accessible.
During the programme, Sarma announced that the Assam government would also undertake the beautification of the Bhogdoi riverfront to promote river tourism and enhance Jorhat’s urban landscape.
In addition, the Chief Minister virtually unveiled two educational infrastructure projects in Sivasagar. These included the upgraded building of Luitporia Mising Higher Secondary School, developed at a cost of ₹3.54 crore, and a new girls’ hostel at Sivasagar University.
