GUWHAATI: Ramanuj Goswami, an accused in the murder of his wife Riya Talukdar, died in Guwahati early Monday after allegedly attempting to escape from police custody while being taken to a hospital for a medical examination.

According to preliminary information, Goswami was being taken from Hatigaon to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for a blood test when he allegedly jumped from the moving police vehicle near Narakasur Hills around 3 am.
Goswami reportedly sustained serious injuries in the incident and later died.
