GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police have made three additional arrests in connection with the recent Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) circulation racket.

The arrested individuals are Md Hejbur Rahman (37), Md Mizanur Rahman aka Mizu (36), and Md Ekramul Islam (26), all from North Lakhimpur, Assam.
A total of ₹13.46 lakh counterfeit notes has been recovered in two different operations on June 30 and July 1 by Dispur Police Station.
The motive of the accused was to cheat innocent people, by exchanging fake notes for some deals, the top police officials had said.
One of the five accused had previously claimed before the media that ₹100 crore worth FICN was circulating in the market.
Ajay Biswakarma, one of the key accused later got injured in a police encounter after he attempted to flee from police custody.
"During interrogation, he revealed about a fake currency printing machine in Kalakhetra area. Our investigating team took him to the location last night. He attempted to flee from the police custody. Soon after we opened couple of blank rounds to stop him from fleeing. Then we had to fire two rounds on his legs to prevent him from fleeing further. One of the fires hit him on his leg," DCP East TR Pegu had said.
