Two Arrested in Guwahati Gold Theft Case; Stolen Valuables, ₹1.91 Lakh Cash Seized


 

GUWAHATI: Two individuals have been arrested by the Noonmati Police on Monday, May 18, in connection with a theft case reported in Guwahati.

The accused have been identified as Rina Begum of Nizarapar and Deepjyoti Das of Bapuji Nagar.

Rina Begum had been working as a domestic help at the complainant’s residence. During interrogation, she confessed to stealing several gold ornaments from her employer’s house.

The stolen items included one pair of earrings, three gold rings, and one gold chain.

Law enforcement authorities also apprehended Deepjyoti Das, who is accused of receiving the stolen valuables. Officials recovered cash amounting to ₹1,91,500 from his possession. He admitted during questioning that the amount was paid in exchange for the stolen gold chain.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against both the accused in connection with the case.
