GUWAHATI: Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday, July 1, conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kayi Panyor district to assess damage caused by recent floods and landslides. He was accompanied by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

The aerial assessment followed visits to several affected villages, where the leaders reviewed ground-level conditions and ongoing relief measures. At Boing village, Chouhan interacted with residents engaged in constructing a protective embankment and also joined them briefly in the effort, underscoring the importance of community participation in disaster response.
Chouhan had arrived in Arunachal Pradesh on June 30 but was unable to carry out an aerial survey that day due to adverse weather conditions. He instead chaired a review meeting with senior state officials at the Itanagar Secretariat, where relief distribution, rehabilitation efforts, and preparedness measures were assessed.
During the meeting, the Union Minister said all concerns raised by affected farmers and residents had been communicated to the Centre and assured full support from the Union government for relief and rehabilitation. He added that no affected family would be left without assistance.
Chouhan also emphasised the need for both immediate relief and long-term disaster preparedness, including strengthening embankments, improving drainage systems, developing safe shelters, and enhancing crop insurance coverage.
