GUWAHATI: Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India to attend the upcoming BRICS Summit, scheduled to take place in New Delhi on September 12 and 13. The announcement was confirmed by Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov, with the Russian Embassy in South Africa also sharing the update on the social media platform X.

In its post, the embassy stated that President Putin will participate in the summit hosted in the Indian capital, signalling Russia’s continued engagement with the BRICS bloc amid shifting global geopolitical dynamics and growing cooperation among member nations.
The visit is likely to be closely watched as BRICS continues to expand its influence on global economic and political issues. However, details regarding Putin’s full itinerary, possible bilateral meetings, and official engagements during his visit to India have not yet been disclosed.
This will be Putin’s second visit to India within a year. He last travelled to the country in December 2025 for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, where he held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on strengthening ties in trade, defence, energy, and strategic cooperation.
