GUWAHATI: Three wild elephants strayed from the nearby Amsang Wildlife Sanctuary into the Army Cantonment area of Satgaon in Guwahati on Sunday night, May 17, raising serious concern among local residents and commuters.

The tuskers were spotted moving through the streets of the cantonment area, where one of the elephants came dangerously close to a man riding a two-wheeler.
A video of the encounter shows the individual in a static position despite the close proximity with the animal. He was seen gesturing and asking the elephant to move away, after which the tusker briefly paused, stepped back, and eventually walked off in another direction.
Incidents of elephant movement in this part of the city are common, as herds frequently venture out of the adjoining forest areas in search of food, often entering residential and urban localities bordering the sanctuary.
