According to the media reports, the victim, identified as Mousumi Sultana of Borthol Kachari village, had reportedly been living separately after leaving her matrimonial home. According to local residents, she had refused to return after her husband, Manjur Ahmed, entered into his third marriage.

The incident took place on Tuesday, July 7, when Manjur Ahmed allegedly confronted Mousumi Sultana and, along with his associate Shahjahan Ali, threw acid at her, leaving her injured. Police suspect the attack was motivated by the victim's refusal to resume living with her husband.

Following the incident, the victim lodged a complaint at Moirabari Police Station, based on which an FIR was registered. The police detained Manjur Ahmed from Dhing within hours of the incident. However, the second accused, Shahjahan Ali, remains absconding.

Police teams have launched search operations and are conducting raids to trace and arrest the absconding accused. Further investigation is underway.
