Police recovered her body from a third-floor flat at Anjali Griha in Basisthapur Bylane after her family alerted the authorities.

According to police, the room was found in a disordered condition, with bloodstains noticed on the floor.

Riya’s husband, Ramanujan Goswami, a driver by profession, was initially reported to be absconding and was identified as the prime suspect in the case. However, in an update, police said Goswami has surrendered and is currently in Hatigaon Police custody.

The couple had reportedly been living in the rented accommodation for around six months. Residents of the building told police that the couple allegedly had frequent arguments.
