GUWAHATI: The death toll in the building collapse at a PG hostel in south Delhi’s Satya Niketan rose to six on Monday, September 7, after one more person rescued during overnight operations was brought dead, officials said.

Eleven people have so far been rescued from the debris, while several others are feared trapped inside the collapsed structure.
Rescue operations continued for the second consecutive day on Monday, with personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Service and Delhi Police deployed at the site.
The building, located near Delhi University’s South Campus and opposite Sri Venkateswara College, collapsed at around 1:30 PM on Sunday while repair work was reportedly underway in the basement.
The structure had a basement and five upper floors. Ten people were initially rescued from the debris and taken to hospital, with several reportedly in critical condition.
Police personnel and a dog squad have also been deployed as rescue teams continue to clear the rubble and search for those who may still be trapped.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident, while Delhi Police have registered an FIR against the building owner.
Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the collapse, including the repair work reportedly being carried out at the premises.
Following the incident, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) ordered immediate action against illegal buildings with four or more storeys. The civic body has also directed the sealing of illegal constructions exceeding four floors.
