GUWAHATI: Eleven Assam Police personnel have been awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) for valuable service characterised by resourcefulness and devotion to duty.

The awardees include Inspector General V Siva Prasad Ganjala, Assistant Inspector General Sarmistha Barua, Commandant Santanu Kumar Dutta, Superintendent of Police Amitav Basumatary, Superintendent of Police Subhash Baruah and Superintendent of Police Suman Chakraborty.
The other recipients are Deputy Superintendent of Police Aker Ali, Lance Naik Ripon Paul, Lance Naik Nanda Tripura, Lance Naik Surajit Mozumder and Assistant Sub Inspector Prabin Baro.
A total of 664 Medal for Meritorious Service awards have been conferred. Of these, 606 have been awarded to personnel from the Police Service, 28 from the Fire Service, 18 from the Civil Defence and Home Guard Service, and 12 from the Correctional Service.
The Medal for Meritorious Service is awarded for valuable service marked by resourcefulness and devotion to duty.
