GUWAHATI: In a joint anti-rhino poaching operation based on specific intelligence inputs, forest and police officials apprehended two suspected poachers before they could allegedly enter Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve for hunting wildlife.

The operation was carried out in the Agaratoli Range area by forest officials, including the Divisional Forest Officer (Eastern Assam Wildlife Division) and the Range Officer, in coordination with the police team from Golaghat. The police operation was led by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Golaghat, with assistance from the Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bokakhat, and other personnel.
During the operation, officials recovered two handmade rifles and a motorcycle believed to have been intended for use in the planned poaching attempt.
Officials identified the arrested suspects as Jintu Orang (40) of 2 No. Geleki village under Bokakhat Police Station in Golaghat district and Sarbang Ranghang (31) of Dolamara Langmang Ranghang village under Dolamara Police Station in Karbi Anglong district. Both were allegedly preparing to enter Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve when they were apprehended during the operation.
