GUWAHATI: A three-year-old girl died after being hit by a four-wheeler in the old ASTC premises in Paltan Bazar area of Guwahati on Friday, April 24.

According to traffic officials from Paltan Bazar Police Station, the incident occurred at around 9:30 AM when the child was playing inside the ASTC premises. The vehicle, which was reversing at the time, struck the child, leading to her death.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Mintu Ali, who has been taken into police custody. The traffic official said, “The child was playing in the premises and got hit while the vehicle was trying to reverse. We received the information around 9:30 AM.”
Following the incident, tension briefly escalated at the spot as members of the public mistakenly identified another vehicle as being involved in the accident. The crowd damaged the vehicle and allegedly assaulted its driver before police intervened and brought the situation under control.
