GUWAHATI: A late-night robbery in Assam’s Nagaon district left a doctor and his wife critically injured after a group of unidentified assailants allegedly stormed their residence during the wee hours of Friday, April 24.

The incident took place in the Morikolong area at around 1:30 AM, where the attackers reportedly broke into the residence of Ranjit Saikia and carried out a violent assault while looting valuables. According to initial reports, the couple was attacked with iron rods, resulting in severe injuries.
Speaking to GPlus, Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das said that both victims were rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment, where their condition is said to be critical.
The senior police official reached the scene shortly after the incident to assess the situation. Police teams, assisted by forensic experts, have launched a comprehensive investigation.
Authorities have begun gathering evidence from the site and are working to identify and apprehend those responsible. Further details are expected as the probe continues.
