GUWAHATI: A tragic road accident in Assam’s Dhemaji district claimed the life of a woman roadside vendor on Thursday, May 28, leaving the local community in a state of mourning.

The deceased, identified as Monika Sonowal, was known in the area for running a small fruit juice and fruit salad stall at Telijan Pathar, frequented by travelers and local residents alike.
Monika was travelling on her scooty when she reportedly lost control after skidding on sand and gravel scattered on the road. Moments later, a truck approaching from behind allegedly ran over her, resulting in her death on the spot.
The incident has triggered widespread concern among locals, with many pointing to the dangers posed by loose construction materials left unattended on roads and highways. Residents have also raised questions over road safety measures and the lack of proper monitoring in the area.
Monika’s sudden and tragic demise has left the entire locality in grief, with many remembering her as a hardworking woman who earned her livelihood through her small roadside business.
