Previously, commuters faced routine delays and confusion at the junction, relying entirely on manual signaling by traffic police personnel.
The newly constructed Maharaj Prithu Flyover, which connects Noonmati to Dighalipukhuri area, crisscrosses the pre-existing Chandmari Flyover via a large rotary point near the Assam Engineering Institute (AEI) playground.
While the new infrastructure has significantly decongested traffic flowing from Noonmati toward key areas like Dighalipukhuri, Kachari, Latasil, Panbazar, and the Guwahati Railway Station, it has not been without controversy.
Several commuters have questioned the size of the rotary, arguing that its oversized design creates an unnecessary bottleneck. Reducing its diameter, they suggest, would free up vital road space for vehicles trying to execute right-or-left turns.
