According to eyewitnesses, the elderly man was crossing the road when the bus hit the scooter, which then struck him. The injured man appeared to be stable following the incident.

The scooter rider said he had stopped and applied the brakes to allow the elderly man to cross the road when the Green Bus hit his scooter from behind.

“I had put on the brake to allow the person to cross the road. But the bus rammed me from behind, and my scooter hit him,” the scooter rider said.

Following the incident, crew members of the Green Bus were seen attending to the injured man. Traffic police also reached the spot and took cognisance of the incident.

The incident has also raised concerns over pedestrian safety along the busy stretch. A foot overbridge is available at Lachitnagar on GS Road, but pedestrians often avoid using it and cross the busy road instead, exposing themselves to the risk of accidents.

Further details on the incident are awaited.
