The government stated that it has modernised the Assam Government Press in Guwahati and, alongside this upgrade, expanded its operational capacity by setting up the new branch in Lakhimpur. The move is aimed at decentralising government printing operations and improving efficiency in the dissemination of official publications beyond the state capital.

The announcement was made under the Information, Public Relations, Printing & Stationery Department, which will continue its efforts to give wider publicity to government welfare programmes and other activities through the year. The department, as a whole, has been allocated ₹172 crore in the budget.

The new press branch in Lakhimpur is expected to strengthen the government's printing capabilities in the region and support faster, more localised production of official documents and communication materials.
