Assam Election Results 2026: BJP’s Ajanta Neog Secures Landslide Victory Over Congress’s Bitupan Saikia in Golaghat


 

GUWAHATI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ajanta Neog has secured a decisive victory in the Golaghat constituency in the Assam Assembly Elections 2026, defeating Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Bitupan Saikia by a massive margin.

Neog, the sitting MLA from the constituency, won 1,02,212 votes, comfortably ahead of Saikia, who garnered 58,453 votes. The BJP leader clinched the seat with a margin of 43,759 votes, reinforcing her strong political presence in the region.

Independent candidate Rubul Borah received 2,277 votes, while 2,243 voters opted for NOTA (None of the Above), indicating a marginal share of electoral dissent.

The outcome marks a significant setback for the Congress, which had been striving to reclaim lost ground in Upper Assam. On the other hand, the BJP’s emphatic win further strengthens its dominance in the region, adding momentum to its broader electoral performance across the state.
