Assam Elections 2026: AGP’s Tapan Das Wins Guwahati’s Dimoria Seat by Big Margin


 

GUWAHATI: Tapan Das of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has secured a sweeping victory in the Dimoria constituency in the Assam Assembly elections, defeating Kishore Kumar Baruah of the Indian National Congress (INC).

Das polled 1,16,058 votes, winning by a massive margin of 65,385 votes. Baruah secured 50,673 votes, finishing a distant second.

Among other candidates, independent candidate Kaberi Das Teran received 5,853 votes, while Nitul Das polled 1,865 votes and Bhaskar Jyoti Pathak secured 1,593 votes.

The emphatic margin underscores a decisive mandate in favour of the AGP in Dimoria, with the contest turning one-sided as counting progressed.
