According to the notification issued by IMD Guwahati on Monday, May 4, the districts of Darrang and Kamrup are likely to experience adverse weather conditions between 2:48 PM and 5:48 PM.
The warning has been categorised under a “WATCH” level of severity, with forecasts predicting thunderstorm with lightning. Wind speeds could reach 30–40 kmph, accompanied by one or two spells of light to moderate rainfall.
“The thunderstorm activity is very likely to occur at isolated places over Darrang and Kamrup in the next 1–3 hours,” the IMD said in its advisory.
Authorities have advised people to take shelter in safe locations and strictly avoid standing under trees during lightning, as it poses significant risk.
