GUWAHATI: Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi has secured victory from the Sibsagar constituency in the Assam Assembly elections, marking a significant win for the regional party.

Gogoi polled 86,521 votes, defeating Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Kushal Dowari, who secured 69,249 votes. The victory margin stood at 17,272 votes.
Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) candidate Prodip Hazarika finished third with 14,757 votes, trailing behind the top two contenders.
Among other candidates, Independent candidate Bhabendra Nath Mohan secured 804 votes, while Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) nominee Tapan Gogoi received 721 votes. Independent candidates Rupak Bhuyan, Rajkumar Duwara, and Hemanta Boruah polled 529, 506, and 403 votes respectively.
This win represents an important success for Akhil Gogoi, who had earlier contested as an independent and secured the seat in the 2021 elections with a margin of 11,875 votes.
