GUWAHATI: The death toll in Assam's ongoing floods has risen to 80, while 2,12,441 people remain affected across the state, according to the latest flood situation.

As many as 112 relief camps and relief centres have been opened to provide shelter and essential assistance to displaced residents, with 13,294 people currently taking refuge in these facilities.
The floods have also caused significant losses to livestock, with 3,635 animals washed away in the last 24 hours. Moreover, 2,97,384 animals have been affected by the floods, adding to the scale of the damage across affected communities.
Meanwhile, the Assam government earlier placed a series of demands before the Central Inter-Ministerial team that visited the worst-affected districts of Upper Assam to assess flood damage and review ongoing relief, restoration and rehabilitation measures.
The state has sought additional support and flexibility from the Centre, particularly to address the impact of the floods in the worst-hit areas.
Among its key demands, Assam has sought recognition of the Upper Assam floods as an “atypical, high-intensity and rapid-onset event”, along with flexible norms for damage assessment and assistance.
The state has also sought a dedicated Central support package for Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat, covering relief, housing, infrastructure and livelihood restoration.
In a separate relief measure, the Assam government has announced a six-month moratorium on loan repayments for flood-affected borrowers in Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat and Jorhat. The measure is aimed at providing financial relief to affected families and businesses.
The government has also announced ₹1.5 lakh for repairing damaged namghars in Sivasagar and Charaideo as part of efforts to support flood-affected communities.
