GUWAHATI: The flood situation in Assam remained grim over the last 24 hours, with 6,40,129 people affected across 11 districts, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Wednesday, July 22.

As per the ASDMA update dated July 22, 939 villages have been inundated, while crops spread over 24,897.27 hectares have been damaged by the deluge.
The state has set up 106 relief camps, currently sheltering 24,418 inmates, and is operating 381 relief distribution centres to assist affected residents.
The cumulative death toll due to floods and related incidents this season has risen to 41, the bulletin stated.
Rescue and relief operations are continuing in the affected areas as authorities work to provide food, shelter and other essential assistance to displaced families. The latest figures reflect changes in the flood situation over the previous 24 hours amid persistent monsoon conditions.
