The programme was headed by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. Senior officials, including the Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam, were present at the event, which saw drugs worth an estimated ₹472.51 crore set to be destroyed.

The seized narcotics including morphine, heroin, Yaba tablets containing methamphetamine, cocaine, and other contraband substances will be incinerated over a 10-day period.

The disposal drive is being carried out using an incinerator provided by the Union Home Ministry, reflecting continued central government support for Assam's efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse in the region.

The programme underscores the state's ongoing commitment to eliminating narcotics from circulation and sends a strong message against drug trafficking networks operating in and around Assam.
