GUWAHATI: The Assam government on Thursday, May 28, suspended ACS officer Lachit Kumar Das, Additional Secretary to the Revenue & Disaster Management Department and Additional Director of Land Records, following his arrest in a bribery case.

According to an official notification issued by the Personnel Department, Das was arrested on May 21 in connection with ACB PS Case No. 19/2026 under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act after allegedly being caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹45,000 in his office chamber.
The notification stated that he remained in custody for more than 48 hours, triggering suspension under Rule 6(2) of the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964.
The order, dated May 26, said the suspension would take effect retrospectively from the date of his arrest and remain in force until further orders.
Earlier, the Court of the Special Judge, Assam, has remanded the arrested officer to four days of police custody in connection with the case.
The suspension order was issued by the Personnel Department under instructions from the Governor of Assam.
